Sava TIES

Sava TIES is a regionally significant project that will be implemented in all four countries of the Sava River basin: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The project is part of the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme (INTERRG DTP) and funded by European Union fund (ERDF, IPA). The project started on 1st June 2018, the Sava River Day and has a duration of three years. Besides strengthening the SavaParks network it focuses on invasive alien species in the Sava River Basin.

Fostering the protection of the Sava River and its floodplains

The project “Fostering the protection of the Sava River and its floodplains”, later also called SavaParks I was the project that initiated the foundation of the SavaParks network. The project started in January 2014 with the main project partners being EuroNatur, Lonjsko Polje Nature Park Public Institution and the Croatian Society for the Bird and Nature Protection. The base for the project however were all SavaParks members who became members during the project duration.

SavaParks II – Freedom for Sava

The restoration of the River Sava and its floodplains is an ambitious goal which will require one decade or more to be significantly advanced. The purpose of the project SavaParks II – Freedom for Sava is to boost the implementation of river and floodplain restoration projects in the Sava River Basin. This will be achieved through successfully conducted feasibility studies at selected pilot sites and strengthened SavaParks’ transnational cooperation, name recognition, and reputation in the region. It aims at preventing further deterioration of the river course itself as well as its adjacent floodplains.
