SavaParks II – Freedom for Sava

The restoration of the River Sava and its floodplains is an ambitious goal which will require one decade or more to be significantly advanced. The purpose of the project SavaParks II – Freedom for Sava is to boost the implementation of river and floodplain restoration projects in the Sava River Basin. This will be achieved through successfully conducted feasibility studies at selected pilot sites and strengthened SavaParks’ transnational cooperation, name recognition, and reputation in the region. It aims at preventing further deterioration of the river course itself as well as its adjacent floodplains. On the other hand, the project will contribute to improving the ecological status of the Sava River and its floodplains. The SavaParks II project is funded by the Aage V. Jensen Charity Foundation, has a duration of three years and started in November 2018. The project will result in preparation of up to three river and/or floodplain restoration projects based on results of the Sava White Book. At the end of the project, the goal is to have up to three possible river/floodplain restoration projects prepared for implementation based on results of conducted feasibility studies and round table meetings.
