Last week, on September 23 and 24, the SavaParks Network members had a regular meeting of its members. At the meeting, the members of the network had an opportunity to find out more about the results of two studies for the restoration of the Sava River from Brežice to Rugvica and the Sava floodplain in part of the Spačva (RH) and Bosut forests (SRB). Presentations were given by Stephan Senfter of REVITAL and Susanne Glatz-Jorde of E.C.O.
SavaParks Network members discussed new projects and presented the concept of the project "Sava Livade - The Green Treasure of Sava River" for the preservation of valuable grassland habitats in the Sava River. They were also informed about the progress of the project proposal to improve sustainable tourism in protected areas managed by network members.
The second day of the meeting was reserved for electing members of the SavaParks Network Steering Committee. Tara Sukic (Germany), Tomaž Jančar (Slovenia), Valerija Hima (Croatia), Haris Hadžihajdarević (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Alen Kiš (Serbia) have been nominated as board members. Some candidates are waiting to get approval from the chief executives of the institutions they work for before the Steering Committee starts working. The meeting ended with a field trip to the special forest reserve "Lože" which is a part of the Natura 2000 area Spačvanski bazen.
